Journey's End

Dear Sister:

I’m overwhelm, last week (well I don’t when you’re going to receive my letter) a friend called Osborne died on No man’s land, in a mission. Everybody is behaving differently; especially Stanhope, he is completely sad, he doesn’t say a word and I don’t know what to say to cheer him up. It seems his very affected. I haven’t been here to long to know how everyone feels, but still, I miss him a lot. He was very friendly and knows how to calm you in the moments of nervousness; I was with him after the mission started and talk, he was so nice and comprehensive because it was my first duty. Stanhope called him uncle, I think because he behaves as it. He was very comprehensive with me, he understood how I feel and explained that it was nothing to be embarrassed. He gave me lots of advices to keep me alive and they were very useful in combat. It was horrible the way he died I see it, it was a grenade that killed him, I’d never seen such thing and I’ll never forget it.

Fortunately the mission was a success, I can’t tell you too much things because if the letter is intercepted, Germans could know what’s going on. But I can tell you that we capture a German and right now (when I’m writing the letter) he is being questioned. I’m glad you will not have to suffer these things. Being in a dugout is a torture. Most of the time you just have to wait until someone calls you or you wait for a sound that might be an attack. It’s horrible to be afraid every minute of the day. The conditions of the dugout are bad; it’s always wet and dark. I really don’t like the place. The only thing that made this hell bearable was the men’s humor and cooperation, especially Osborne, but now he’s dead and everybody is nostalgic.

However, every day I’m going madder. It appears that an officer called Hibbert is sick and is going to return to England. Most of the soldiers think that Hibbert is a coward and that he’s only pretending to be ill. I don’t really care, because is that the case I’m starting to understand why Hibbert wants to return. I’ve talked to many people in here and it seems they stay in here because they’re brave and want to have glory, but if they return to the UK they might be seen as cowards and lose their entire honor. At first I think that’s a bit fool, but if you think it it’s a very good reason to stay. Another issue that concerns me is that I don’t stop thinking that if the Colonel has the fault of Osborne’s dead because if he didn’t choose him he could be alive now. That’s perhaps the issue that bothers Stanhope; he also took part in the decision and everyone knew that they were close friends.

Anyway, fortunately I’m doing friends. We all get along quite well, but right now I only remember a man named Mason. He’s very nice and is the one in charge of the food. I suspect he doesn’t like Stanhope because he told me that Stanhope gets drunk sometimes, but I’d never see him in that state. Don’t worry about that your boyfriend is very popular between the other men and it seems like they considers him as their role model. I think that when Stanhope returns he will be covered in honor and respect, so that you can marry him and be happy forever.

The story occurs at Saint-Quentin, France, in 1918, Journey's End gives a glimpse into the experiences of the officers of a British Army Infantry Company in World War I. The story plays out in the officers' dugout over four days, from 18 March 1918 to 21 March 1918.

More deeply the story talks about Stanhope the hero of the story, which has done a lot of heroic missions, he is very respected by other soldiers and someones considered him as their role model.

April 16th
Dear Diary, I felt very depressed this day. I watch Jimmy Carillo in the news and described Emos like a crazy movement that wants to get the attention of the people. It is true that Punks hates (as he said). They are being unfair and irrational.

April 21th
Dear Diary, I woke up unhappy as usual. The day get a little better, but not enough. It's comforting that some of us express publicly like Junior Medina. He defended our ideals about music and he was right to say that we only care to express our emotions by the way we look.

May 2th
Dear Diary, I'm more sad and felling bad than ever, Punks are starting to attack us, they may start a march. Most of us don't know what to do, fight or hide. I'm scared they are to many Punks in my block. To many of the ordinary people will not defend us, but they will support the Punks. Life is unfair.

May 10th
Dear Diary, I'm very intimidated. The Punks start sending some sort of ultimatums to us, and they don't lose the opportunity to insult us. Some of my friends are considering the idea to kill themselves. I tried to convinced them is a stupid idea, Carlos the neighbor in front all ready suicide. I hope no-one do the same.

May 16th
Dear Diary, I don't know what to do, Punks start attacking more seriously, they are hurting my friends. Our parents are very concerned. I'm very sad and depressed, my best friend move to Colombia, now I'm really alone.

May 30th
Dear Diary, I cried all day, I got the new that my best friend suicide.

June 1st
Dear Diary, I decided to seek help with my parents. We talk all night, I'm feeling better. The told me that they accept me how I am. I think now I can enjoy more my days from now on.

EMOS!!!

Emos are some kind of urban cult, for e.g Punks and Skates. In my opinion these people are crazy and bad because all their ideals are about how society discriminates them and feel sad for it. That is understandable, but that someones suicide themselves for this reason is fool. Another think I don't like of them are the way they express themselves using a lot of darks colours in their clothes and hiding the half of their face with their hair is strange. The third thing I dislike of Emos is their music too much of their song's lyrics talk about black parade (the place where Emos think will go when they die) or things about dead.

Harry Smith

Day 1

I had enough of Hitler's ideas. His people is as crazy as him. I'll organize a political movement against him. Then only thing I'm concerned about is my family. That man is horrible he hates Jewish and he will try to send, me and my family to prison. Perhaps my political state can protect us. Yes tomorrow I will start my march.

Day 6

My march is a failure, I could only join about 500 people. The government is now being in control of him and too much of the population support him. I heard he's taking Jewish and all the people that they're against him to concentrations camps. I'm starting to feel afraid. He controls too much of the country. Soon he will turn in tyrant or at least the leader of the government.

Day 34

I've been arrested 2 weeks ago, all my march has failed, Hitler capture a lot of people, fortunately my family could escape, but I didn't have luck. Being in a Concentration Camp is a torture, every day I wake up 6:00 am, afterwards I eat a piece of bread, then do nothing all day, and finally sleep at 8:00pm. I'm starting to get mad. I hope I can get out soon; I'm starting to do plans for it.

Day 44

My plan has been discovered, I think I will stay here for ever. They starting to take away people I wonder what for. I'm not sure, I hope they pick me I don't care if it's freedom or death I want to leave this place once and forever.

Black Eyed Peas

They're an American hip hop group integrated by: will.i.am, Fergie, apl de ap and Taboo. The group is from Los Angeles. will.i.am born in 1975 and his real name is William James Adams Jr. Apl de ap born in 1974 and his real name is Allan Pineda. The two started together singing rap in Los Angeles. They join with another group called Eazy-E and changed the name to Atban Klann. Afterwards in 1995 they change their name to "Black Eyed Peas", will.i.am explain that he was a fan of Red Hot Chili Peppers and decide to name his band after food. Then they replaced the member Mookie for Dante Santiago and the in 1996 Taboo (Jaime Gomez) joined the group. In the 2003 they replaced a member of the group called "Kill Him" for Fergie (Stacy Ferguson). And since then the group has not be changed.
